Law firm to sponsor Estuary Swim in charity’s Jubilee Year
Leading law firm Michelmores has pledged its support for the Estuary League of Friends by agreeing to sponsor and manage the charity’s annual Topsham to Turf fundraising swim.
The traditional swim across the estuary was revived in 2005 by Topsham ferryman Mike Stevens, and has been staged annually ever since by the Estuary League of Friends and a range of supporters and sponsors.
Last year the popular event attracted over 100 swimmers and raised in excess of £7000.
The charity’s chief executive, Rachel Gilpin, said: “We are very grateful to Michelmores for taking on the administrative work involved in staging this event. It lifts a huge burden and frees our volunteers to concentrate on providing our services to the community and other fund-raising initiatives.
”Michelmores generous support coincides with the 25th anniversary of the charity and we want to make this a very special year.”
Louise Edwards, Marketing Director at Michelmores said: “We are delighted to support a very valuable local charity. We have a great deal of experience in organizing events including our own annual charity run and our corporate yacht race which has now been going for over 20 years.
“In addition to the administrative support, Michelmores will be supplying stewards for next year’s events and we already have a number of people who will be taking part in the swim – including me! In fact, we hope to organize an inter-department competition as part of the event.”
This year’s Swim will be held on 11 August 2012 at 1.00 pm. If you are interested in swimming to raise money forEstuary League of Friends, please sign u at http://www.michelmores.com/swim.
